The Debater

Debaters are quick-thinking, inventive, and intellectually restless, with a strong appetite for ideas and argument. They enjoy questioning assumptions, exploring concepts from multiple angles, and challenging conventional thinking. They are typically confident, verbal, and comfortable with debate and improvisation.

A Debater tends to spot connections and possibilities rapidly and enjoys brainstorming, problem-solving, and reframing situations. They value competence and novelty, dislike rigid rules and routine, and are often drawn to innovation and entrepreneurship. They can argue many sides of an issue and enjoy the intellectual challenge of doing so.

Their love of debate and novelty can come across as argumentative or insensitive, and they sometimes struggle with follow-through, detail, and routine once the initial challenge has passed. They may lose interest once a problem is solved in principle. Debaters usually do best in stimulating, flexible environments that reward original thinking.
